I always understood the word “Apocalypse” to be about wars, disasters and the end of the world.
Apocalypse was this bad word, a word which was very, very negative or bad news, and I must say that for many people, if you were to make a survey among non church goers, asking them what this word means, they would probably come up with the same interpretation I had back then.
As for church goers, those of us who are born again Christians, we do not know the word “Apocalypse” too well and that’s the reason why I expose it to you as one of the most fantastic words in the Bible.
Of course, the expression ‘fantastic’ is not the kind of word most people connect with the last book of the Bible that speaks about wars, disasters and the end of the world.
When you know the real meaning of the word “Apocalypse”
fantastic it is and bye, bye for the tragic it was.
The meaning of the word!
Just to let you know that the last book of the Bible could have been entitled in many ways:
- The last book of John
- The last book of the Bible.
- To the 7 churches of Asia.
- John’s revelations.
- The warnings and prophetic words.
- The blessed reading.
But for some reasons most Latin Bibles will entitle the last book of the Bible as “Apocalypse” and most of the none Latin Bible’s in different languages will entitle it “Revelation”, which is exactly what the word “Apocalypse” means.
Apocalypse is the Greek the word “apokálypsis” which describes:
. Be revealed
Then, the question is what or whose revelation is it if the last book of Bible is entitled “Apocalypse” ?
“The Revelation (apocalypse) of Jesus Christ,
which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place.
And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God,
and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw.
Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy,
and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
Even if the last book of the Bible seems scary with all the wars, disasters, diseases and Jesus second coming as the king warrior to eliminate all evil on earth, and even if there are lots of warnings in its context, the word “Apocalypse” itself definitely does not mean the end of the world, wars, a catastrophic phenomena which will annihilate the entire population on earth and so on, instead it is a blessed word of hope and guidance for us all who are Christians and those who will make Jesus their Lord and Savior which is the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The last book of the Bible
is and will be a blessed hope for all who read it!
To argue this, is to argue God Himself!
